Urban Dictionary: “abbv. Smart-Casual, what ever that means!”
Some see it as a nice break from office attire; others see it as a hellish nightmare in getting the balance right between smart and casual! GYE gets down to the real rules of those dress-down Fridays so you don’t have to worry!
Whilst allowing a little personality into your wardrobe, make sure you keep it appropriate. Whilst your clothes may change, the hemlines shouldn’t.
We’re also a fan of jeans; though there is a specification. Denim should be dark rather than light and in a block colour. Leave the faded, rinse effect and ripped knees for the weekend.
We would also recommend avoiding leggings as they can sometimes lack the modesty that should be shown at work.
Above all, keep the shoes sensible! The biggest mistake people can make is thinking that those little things on the end of your feet will go unnoticed. Flip flops are off the menu and heels should be reasonable.
The best rule of thumb to go by is: Would I take some else seriously dressed the way I am? This is the fall back way to decide whether those slightly garish shoes or that quirky bag are a good idea.
